United Games of Nations is a youth festival and youth exchange programme with the goal to promote peace and understanding between people in Europe and in other parts of the world. Peace Child International |
Peace Child International and United Games have been partner organisations since 1992 and have cooperated in many international youth events and projects. Some of the youth groups and youth initiatives that participate in the Global Village Project have come out of Peace Child’s global youth network.
Peace Child International empowers young people to take responsibility for peace, human rights and the environment through education, leadership development and direct participation in the events that shape our world community.
This is achieved by producing publications, musicals, conferences, developing educational programmes and encouraging its affiliate youth groups throughout the world. Peace Child gets its name from a tradition in Papua New Guinea. Originally, when warring tribes of head-hunters made peace, they each exchanged a child. The children would grow up with the other’s tribe and if in the future, conflict threatened between the tribes again, those children would be sent to negotiate. Such a child was called a "Peace Child." This legend represents the important role we believe young people can play in changing the world.
PCI is an educational charity registered in the United Kingdom. With a network of more than 500 youth eco-groups in 120 countries around the world, it has ECOSOC status with the United Nations. It has initiated a series of World Congresses centered around the UN Millennium Development Goals.

Young Voices International Campaign
The Young Voices International Campaign and United Games cooperated in many international youth events and projects since 1992. Some of the youth groups and youth initiatives that participate in the Global Village Project 2006 came out of the Young Voices International Network.
NPA focuses in its work with youth on democracy and the right to participate. Since 1993 we have worked with youth in the former Yugoslavia who wanted to meet each other in order to create contact in spite of the war and the increasing animosity between the different ethnic groups. The project grew into a network of active youth groups who worked for reconciliation and democracy in their countries. Since 1997 a similar network in Southern Africa has developed. Youth groups in rural and urban areas in Zimbabwe, Malawi and South Africa are working to enhance the right to participate. Their main focus is on the fight against HIV and AIDS, against crime and violence and for democracy. In Palestine and Lebanon NPA is supporting youth organisations who are working to strengthen the rights for Palestinians. In Lebanon Palestinians live without citizenship after more that 60 years as refugees. In Palestine our partners are working to spread information about the increasing poverty and hopelessness because of the Israeli occupation and the wall that is built far into Palestinian land. In Kurdistan, North Iraq, young people are developing youth groups that are democratic and they are working to enhance reconciliation among the various ethnic groups.
NPA supports all these different groups through capacity building using participatory methods, and enhancing democratic leadership and gender equality. NPA has made it possible for representatives of the various organisations to meet, exchange experiences and learn from each other.
