Global Village Project - Mission Control Centre
Austria
- Why is your project important?
There are hundreds maybe thousands of youth initiatives and youth groups around the world that are active in small scale action projects to improve their local environment. Many of these groups are based in less developed countries. Very often the adult world is not really taking notice of the great work young people are doing and what important role they are playing in the field of development and that the hundreds and thousands of small scale projects help to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. The Global Village Project - Mission Control Centre is an internet coordination and communication tool that will connect and unite simultaneously youth led action projects in 17 countries around the globe. It will promote the activities of the various youth groups to outside people, organisations and institutions. The MCC is their window to the world. It shows the active youth groups in the villages and town districts that they are not alone but that their activities will be seen by like minded young people in the other countries and by many interested and important people as well as press and media around the world. I hope this will empower and encourage the young people to go on although times might be difficult. I hope that other young people become interested and start to be active in the months and years to come.
- What would you like to achive? What are your goals?
We would like to develop an internet tool that becomes really use and meaningful for youth initiatives and youth groups that organise small scale action projects in their local communities. With the Mission Control Centre we want to organise a platform that shows and promotes the various youth led development action projects so many young people are involved in. The main goal that we would like to achieve is that the adult world - especially local and regional decision makers as well as local press and media will take better notice of what young people are doing and are able to achieve and that the important role of young people in the field of development is more recognised and acknowledged.
